Tradesmen's Football Match. FALLON'S v. LOVE AND LEWIS. L A football mitch was played at Toorak Park on Wednesday after noon last between teams represent ing Mr Fallon's Drapery Establish ment and Messrs Love and Lewis, drapers. Much interest was shown in the match, and there was a good number of spectators present. AU the players in both teams played first class football, Charlie Stewart, of Fallon's team, playing a very brilliant game. The match resulted in a win for Love and Lewis's, tbs scores being Love and Lewis -io gls 13 bhs. Fallon's-8 gls 7 bhs. On Wednesday next Fallon's play a team from the Big Store, and as both teams are well represented, a gocd game is anticipated.

Prahran Municipal Accounts. IQ regai d ta a recent audit made of the Prahran council accounts, the finance committee, at the meering of the council on Monday evening last, made the following recommenda tions That the report of the auditors be adopted. That the council disapproves of the action of the paymaster (Mr Dean) in putting nairns upon the roil of ratepayers of Prahran whilst the rates there on remained unpaid. That a committee be appointed, consisting of Crs Chambers, Dobson, Nicolson and Upton, to carry out the recommenda tions made by the auditors in their report. Mayor Flintoft moved the adoption of the recommendations. Cr Chambers seconded the motion. Cr Nicolson said Mr Dean had told the finance committee that if he had not left the names on the rolls he might have lost his promotion. State Parliaments. PUBLIC MEETING IN ST. KILDA, j A public meeting of St, Kilda citizens, convened by the Mayor (Cr H. B. Gibbs) in response to a requisi tion, was held in the local town hall on Tuesday evening for the purpose of discussing the desirableness of abolishing the offioe of State Governors and State Parliaments. There was a moderate attendance. The following motion, proposed by Mr T. Cooper, and seconded by Mr T. A. Bone, was oarried " That when the Commonwealth constitution was adopted it was confidently hoped by a large majority of the electors that large reductions would be made in the expense of maintaining the State Governments ; that practically no reductions have been made, and State Governments are still maintained on an altogether unnecessary scale ; that the experi ence of six years of Federation has made it olear that no satisfactory legislation in the direction of reducing the expense of the State Govern ments, or of increasing their efficiency and usefulness...

Rifle Shooting. The King's Prize. WON BY AN AUSTRALIAN. At the Bisley rifle meeting the Australians have snored some im portant successes. The King's Prize was won by Lieutenant W. C. Addison, of South Australia, who scored 316. This is the first occasion " the King's " has been won by an Australian, and, as might be expected, much jubilation has been caused among Commonwealth ehootiog enthusiasts. The first prize in " the King's " consists of ¿"250, presented by Hts Majesty the King, a gold medal and a gold badge. The conditions of the match are :-ist stage, seven -shots at 200, 500 and 600 yards ; 2nd stage, twenty shots at 600 yards ; and 3rd (final) stage, ten shots at Soo, 900 and 1000 yards. Last year the winning score was 324., made by Captain R. Davies, of ist Middlesex V.R.C. Lieutenant Addison also tied for the Lpder Challenge Oup, seven shots at 600 yards, he and Sergeant-Mayor Yorke scoring 35, the possible. The hall waa crowded with members and friends, including many ladies and a good representation of the A.W.A. After the ordinary business of the evening had been transacted, an adjournment was made to allow those present an Opportunity of enjoying a specially prepared programme of vocal and instrumental selections. A meeting was held on Thursday evening in the Malvern Town Hall "building for the purpose of discussing the advisability of forming a Horti cultural Society in Malvern. Cr L. W. Holmes presided and .there was 1 a fair number present. After some discussion it was decided, on the motion of Mr F. Raven, seoonded by Mr Wilton Page, " that a Horticul tural Society be formed. Letters of an encouraging nature were received from kindred societies All present formed themselves into a committee in connection with the society. Mr F. Raven was appointed secretary, and it was decided to hold another meeting at an early date, when milters of detail will be arranged. It is understood that already B large number have expressed their intention of joining the society.

St Kilto v. Fitaroy. The above teams met on the Fitzroy ground on Saturday last. Rain had fallen during the day, and tbs ground in consequence was [ greasy and muddy, whilst in parts i water had formed miniature lakes. ' Lever, St. Kilda's full back, had the misfortune during the week to meet with a painful accident, and his place was taken by O'Connor. The game throughout was a closely contested one, although the players, owing to the state of the ground, had much difficulty in handling the ball. Fitzroy proved victorious by two points, the scores being as follows Fitzroy, 3 gls 7 bhs (25 points.) St. Kilda, 3 gls 5 bhs (25 points.) The scores at the end of fach quarter were Fitzroy, 0.1., 2.3., 3.5., 3.7. f St. KUda, 1.3., 2.4., 2.4., 3 5.
