DONNYBROOK & WATLAN WAL-i LAN ROAD BOARD. Present the Chairman, Dr. Wilson, and Messrs. Fraser, M'Cormack, M'Martin, M'Leod, Menzies, Paterson and Robertson. The minutes of the previous meeting hav ing been read were confirmed. Correspondence as follows was then read and considered:- 1. Frolm the Roads and Bridges depart ment, asking a return showing the quantity and description of work executed by thie Board since its formation. Tuesday March 0. In the Lcgi3lative Assembly on Tuesday, N gre'at:varivty of notices were given- so.me of qu:stions and some of motions. M*r Iopkins moved thatthe proceed'ngi of-the House be opened-with prayer. After a short discussion, the motion was negatived by 25 to 24.: Mr: T.ong ,ore moved that, in the opinion of the House, district surveyors should be periodically removed from one district to an. other The change hehe advocated was, he thought, necessary to cheek certain evils that bad arisen. Mr. Vale seconded the motion: Mr. Grant agreed with the principle of the motion, :hich he thought should be. ex. tended to ro:ice magistiates and wardens. ie intended acting on the principle laid down in the motion, whether it were adopted or no. Mr. Orr thought that numerous charges of Thvouritism would be the result. After some remarks from Mr. Richardson, and other members, the motion was agreed to. The House then adjourned until the fol lowing day.

Under rather unfavorable circumstances this Society waaformed soeine eighteenimonths since for the avowed purppsa of giving at first: a dramatic entertainment the proceeds of which was tobe expended on improving the Cricket ground; its duties were not supposedto be confined to this alone, and the Hospital and M3ichanic. Institute were not to be forgotten. However, as there was no room available for the purpose at the time it remained in abeyance untill an- op portunitv should occur. The Kilmore Me chanics' Institute was crected in the mean time and the committee of the hospital taking "time by the forelock" wrote to ,Mr. James Warre, asking him to use his energy in getting up- u performance to benefit the funds of that institution.
