Gambotta's case may thus bo summarized, judg ing from reports which wo have received from some of tho nuthoiities who attended him. The great leader has been subject for years to chronic inflammation of tho cellular tissue and peritoneum, suuounding that part of the largo intestine known as the cwnuin (pcrity-ph litis), extend ing to tho colon (pericolitis). About Jio weeks boloro his death he lcceived a pistol shot wound in the p.dm of his right hand, tho bullet passing under tho skin, and making its exit a little above the middle of the Jimb.
