Wa doubt whether the oldest settler ?an remember another such a May as we have just passed through. The average temperature for the month baa been but 5S degrees and 3 minutes. Easterly winds hare prevailed 18 days out of 30. There have been thirteen rainy days, and ab aggregate fall of not less than eight inches cf water. Lyon county 13 Boon to rote on tbe question of iesuicg 8200.000 of thirty year seven per cent, bond to aid in build ing the Valley Railroad. People who are already paying high taxes, naturally inquire if such expend fture won't iociease tbeir taxes. We are one of that eort and propose to present the matter as it strikes us. Tte interest on 8200,000 at seven per cent, Ia $1 4,000 annually; ihe finking fund for the payment of the debt 86.6C6 more. We have now a tax list of 8l.C00.O0O, in round number?, probably to be in creased this year by 8100.000. Over three fourths of this valuation is of real estate; on this valuation we are now pay ing, for all purposes, local and general, a tax of nearly three per cent.
