Four head all-league Huntington Park’s Herbert Veras, Art Campos of Roosevelt and Bryant Gaines of Lincoln and Henry Polanco of Garfield head the list of players named to the 1979 AllNortheastern league class Bee football team selected by the conference coaches. Veras, a linebacker on the league winning Spartan squad, was named the Northeastern League Bee ‘MVP’, while Campos and Gaines shared honors as the outstanding defensive players and Polanco was named the top offensive player. Select Nemo , Maj , to divisional all-CIF teams Three player who helped their teams make a complete turnabout in their* season won-loss records from 1978 to 1979 South Pasadena’s Ron Nemo and Todd Majors and Pater Noster’s Fred Gourley have been named to the all-CIF Southern Section football teams announced this week by Citizens Savings Athletic Foundation. Hennessee captures all-around Melissa Hennessee, a student at Eagle Rock Elementary School, captured first place in the children's division all-around competition at the first Class II compulsoryOptional meet of the 1980 season last weekend. Hennessee totalled 61.05 points winning the individual competition in the vaulting (15.95), placing second in the uneven bars (16.55) and taking third in the floor exercise (15.85). She scored a 12.70 on the balance beam and was unplaced. She is a member of the Northeastern Stars gymnastic team, sponsored by the Northeast YMCA. Also competing for the Stars were Anissa Sanchez, first in the floor exercise (16.3); Heidi Passarella, second in the vaulting (15.25), third in the uneven bars (15.25) and sixth overall with 56.85 points. Phantoms split two Junior forward Sal Rodarte scored a game high 23 points and three other Phantom players scored in double figures as cathedral evened its Santa Fe League basketball record at 1-1 with an 81-44 rout of visiting crosstown rival Pater Noster Saturday night. Oxy players hold clinic Occidental College basketball players and the Northeast VMCA will hold a free basketball clinic this coming Saturday afternoon at Luther Burbank Junior High School, 6460 N. Figueroa St., beginning at 12 noon. The clinic will be open to boys and girls tn grades 0-0 and will cover — basic skills of offense and defense as well as talks on teamwork and sportsmanship.
