THE ASS1NIB0INS. Father de Smet, in one of his interesting letters from the Rocky Mountains, has the following notice of the As- siniboins, a tribe of Indians who are native there and to the, manor-born. The Assiniboins have the reputation of being irascible, jealous, and fond of babbling; in conscqmnce of these bad qualities, battles and murders aie not unfrrquent among them, and of course continual divisions. Cleanliness is a virtue which has no place in the Indi- an catalogue of domestic or personal duties. The Assin- ibonisare filthy beyond conception; they surpass all their neighb...

They leave soon for the places of their temporary destination, and we wish them a God speed on their journey. If they could have remained a day or two, we doubt not our citizens would have tendered them a public demonstration of their regard. Tropic. European News.
