The savings in 1976 alone exceeded $80 million, and company officials say increased use of lignite will result in even greater savings in 1977. Recognition of these savings was made by the National Society of Professional Engineers in citing the company's Monti- cello Steam Electric Station, near Mount Pleasant, as one of the Ten Outstanding Engineering Achievements of 1976. PRE SCHOOL PATTER Christmas is in the air and the preschool- ers have been making lots of things for Christmas. We have made Christmas ornaments and decorated our Christmas tree. We baked cookies and candy last week and put them in cans each child had decor- ated and each gave the goodies to their parents. Each child also made a plaster handprint for their parents. This week we are making Christmas stockings and bread dough ornaments. Friday is our Christmas party with games, singing, goodies to eat, packages to open and a visit from Santa. This is an exciting time of the year and each child is adding to the excitement. Judy Longacrehad a birthday this month and a party at school. Thanksgiving we colored a Turkey that was on Tom Thumb Grocery sacks. Then we took a field trip to Tom Thumb and turned in the sacks. They gave each child a candy bar as a surprise. We took a walk around the store and talked to the different people working to see what their particular job involved. If you ...

FROM YOUR CITY COUNCIL CITY COUNCIL NOVEMBER 28.1977 The Council met in regular session with all members present except Andrews. There were no questions on the minutes and they were approved. On the Bills for Payment, Scarborough noticed everything payed by the Fire Department was out of the Fire Department funds except for water. Scarborough suggested that the Fire Department be allotted additional money and the water bill be transferred to that fund. Hooker inquired why she had not re- ceived a copy of the audit. Ann Holman said the audit had not been completed and that the payment to the auditor was only for part of his work and he would get the rest when the audit was completed. Knickerbocker briefed the council on annexations. He showed the council a map and asked permission from the Mayor and council to approach the Mayor and council of Murphy to see if they would compromise on boundaries North of Sachse. The council told Knickerbocker to do what was needed for the annexation....

What is God really like? This column is the first in a series. It is written by a Rowlett resident. If you were asked to write a paragraph on "What is Cod like?" what would be the length of your paragraph? In nearly every stage in life there is a need to know about God. The teenager looks in the mirror and sees his bad complexion, or that he is too skinny or too short, and thinks he doesn't like what God has done so far: the parents look at their new infant, so dear and dependent on them and think, will God really help us rear this child; the senior citizens know death can't be far away, and wonder if God will be sufficient for them at this time. In the next few weeks we are going to look deeply into God s character and see how big our God really is. He doesn't ask us to accept this by faith but has proved Himself to us through His word and His works. God is a Trinity. He is one in character but three persons in one: Godhead, each having His own personality and function, God the Fat...
