Advertising. We copy the following sensible re- marks from the Philadelphia Bulletin : When a newspaper speaks of the benefits to be derived from advertising, the remarks are generally taken in the Mm« spirit as that with which we listen to or read the advertisements them- selves. Bat, in fact, people are becom ing m used to seeing every and any occasion turned to individual profit, that they are forgetting to be vexed or startled by it, and the editor who com- mends that whereby he profits, is gen- erally regarded as following a simply harmless precedent. Bat it is none the less true, that at the present day the trae elixir which converts the humblest wares to gold is amply nothing more nor less than print- ing ink. Look around, and you will, see that of all those men who have un- flinchingly and perseveringly adver- tised by scores of thousands of dollars, have grown immensely wealthy, or have at least received wealth which would have made them wealthy if husbanded. But though all...

I A Triangular Bride. "t&utb Stranger than Fiction." vp i From the Cincinnatti Times. We have recently become acquainted with the facts of one of the; most extraordinary dramas in social life of which we have knowl- edge. The material, which will gradually «afold itself in the following narrative, com- bined with the requisite machinery and in- terwoven with the fictitious characters neces- lary to the artistic development of the pilot, would complete a profoundly interesting, if not an absolute thrilling romance. Oor sketch, however, is an unfinished daguerro- (ype of facts which recently transpired in one of the most attractive inland cities of the "dark and bloody ground," and situated not B hundred miles from " la Belle Riviere." Weaubmit the skeleton, leaving the elabora- tion and finishing touches to be woven in dramatic texture, to artists enjoying more time and possessing more skill and imagina- tion than we can command. A lady, youthful, lovely, accomplished, Bad the da...
