THE BUILDING TRADE. [Newspaper Article] — The Longreach Leader — 12 January 1923

THE BUILDIN TRADE. We learn that Messrs Edwards, Martin have on hand a number of contracts for the building of residences in Longreach and we note that an advertisement appears in a Brisbane daily, notifying that this firm requires the services of carpenters. This augurs well for the building trade in Longreach, and also shows that the town - ship is progressing. A London wool- importing firm states that world's wool requirements have outstripped the annual production and therefore the present position of prices would seem to be justified.

Fire in Cassowary street. A fire broke out this morning shortly after 10 o'clock in a house in Cassowary street, occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Keen. The Fire Brigade, although on the scene in smart time, were not required, as a bucket brigade had the fire under con - trol before the brigade's arrival. The   damages are estimated at about £30. Federal Income Tax Ruling.       The Federal Commissioner of Taxation,   in a ruling on Thursday last, defined the     difference between income from personal exertion and Income from property.
