SUPPLY OF WATER. No II. [Newspaper Article] — The Sydney Morning Herald — 5 August 1842

SUPPLY OF WATER.   No II. OUR former remarks upon this subject appear to have attracted some notice ; and it has been said, that though the assumption of a general fall of six niches of rain was diminished to somewhat about the sixteenth of an inch by the process of calculation, yet the quantity taken into account was purely local. Since then, the South Head report has given 6 inches 9.10, as the whole quantity registered   there ; and by inspection of a return kept at the School House at Dooral, it appears that the actual quantity which fell there, during the same period, was 6 inches 8.10, of which 1 inch 7.10 fell from half- past eight A. M. to half-past one P. M., on the 19th ultimo. Other observations have exhibited even a greater amount than this. For instance : At Bulli, in the Illawarra, there fell on the 16th July, 4.5 inches; on the 17th, 11 inches; on the 18th, 5.5 inches; and on the 10th, 6 inches; in all 27 inches. The Hawkesbury must have carr...
