Railway Fatality at Scarborough [Newspaper Article] — South Coast Times and Wollongong Argus — 8 January 1915

Railway Fatality at Scarborough Yesterday morning a man named Gussoni Guiseppi (35), a native of Italy, was knocked down by the 11 o'clock passenger train to Sydney, and killed almost instantaneously. De ceased had only started pn the dupli cation works on the previous Monday, and members of the gang ;in which he was employed state that he had crossed over the main line to get a drink of water. He is said to have been warned of the approaching train, but he tamed too slowly to' avoid the catastrophe. Deceased was struck on the side of the bead and almoBt decapitated. There is a rather sharp curve in the line where the fatality occurred, and it would be difficult for a driver to see an obstruc tion until he was almost on top of it. The unfortunate man is said to have a wife and three children in Italy. Out' of respect to deceased the gang knocked off work for the day.
