Sydney Intelligence. His Majesty's ship Coromandel, arrived from New Zealand on the 14th ult. with a cargo of spars for His Majesty's dock-yards. The ship Skelton, Captain Dixon, sailed for Eng- land on the 8th of the same month, with a cargo, the produce of the Colonies. By the arrival of the Prince Regent, Mr. Kent com- mander, lately from Port Macquarie, we understand that the Lady Nelson and the Mermaid were still lying there, awaiting the arrival of the mechanics, &c, in order to their repairs. The damage sustained is re- ported not to be so serious as was at first imagined ; as the Lady Nelson, which is the most injured, may be shortly expected, once more, to enter the harbour of Port Jackson. HOBART TOWN. Sitting Magistrate-Rev. Robert Knopwood, M.A. On Wednesday morning the prisoners arrived by the ship Countess of Harcourt were landed, and in- spected by the Lieutenant Governor preparatory to their being assigned to their several occupations. The prisoners landed in a very clean and healthy state. At a Bench of Magistrates held at the Court-house in Liverpool-street on Saturday last, the following cases came on for hearing : George William Wells, for perjury committed the preceding day in the Lieutenant Governor's Court, in a cause wherein he was an evidence, was sentenced to forfeit his ticket of leave. Moses Prosser and John Griffin, convicts, the former holding a ticket of leave, were found guilty of   robbing John Cassidy, a settler at the Old Beach, of 5½ bushels of wheat and a quantity of potatoes, on the 21st May last; and also of a number of sheep in the course of the last three months.   HOBART TOWN Sitting Magistrate—Rev. Robert Knopwood, M. A. SHIP NEWS.—Sailed on Tuesday last for Port Jackson, the convict-ship Countess of Harcourt, Capt. Bunn; having on board the Surgeon Superin- tendant, Dr. Morgan Price, R.N. Ensign Drew, of the 46th Regt. and Guard late from Europe with male convicts landed at this place from that vessel. The brigs Active and Sophia both came up to port during the present week, with full cargoes of black oil ; and the ship Ann, which has killed another whale of the largest size, it is said, ever caught here, is also daily expected up the river. The Active sails to-morrow for Port Jackson ; and the Ann, we understand, will proceed to the coast of New Zealand, to full up with sperm oil. At the Recommendation of Principal Surgeon Bowman, His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. James Spence to     aft as an Assistant Surgeon at the Settlement of the Derwent, in Van Diemen's Land, until His Majesty's Pleasure shall be known, on a Salary of Seven Shillings Ind Six-pence per Day, commencing on and from the 1st of the present Month of August. Acting Assistant Surgeon Spence is to avail himself of the first opportunity of proceeding to the Derwent to assume his medical duties at that station.
