Receipts continue large and there is heavy trading among local operators for storage here and also for . shipment East . The consumptive demand is also good . Hasler on Texas Onions [Newspaper Article] — Chicago Packer — 20 April 1907
Hasler on Texas Onions We have received this week several of the prettiest cars of Texas Onions we have ever seen , Crystal Wax and Yellow , from Laredo . We are feeling very strong on tbe Texas onion proposition as long , as we can get this kind of onion . It seems to us that conditions are favorable in every way for a strong demand . These onions are being harvested under the best conditions in the world and are arriving dry and bright . Crop started thirty tlays ahead of time and there will lie nothing . to interfere with the , selling of these onions for the next two months . If the association can regulate their markets there will be no disasters this year . We are , in the market to buy twenty cars for storage purposes . Watch our prognostication and see if Texas onions are not worth more May 20 th than they are April 20 th . Of course , we mcaii only fancy stock , Such as Laredo is now shipping , Crystal Wax and Yellows , Cummer orates . —E . l > . HA . SLE 11 CO ....
SPUDS MANGE SHARPLY [Newspaper Article] — Chicago Packer — 20 April 1907
SPUDS MANGE SHARPLY BROKERS COULD NOT GET STOCK PROMPTLY TO PILL ORDERS . Inarket Kept Cleaned up all Week—Upward Tendency Thought to be Ternporary—The New Potato Market . New York , April 20 . —The potato market went on a boom this week . Prices advanced by leaps and bounds . Stock was very scarce and brokers had orders which they could not fill . Tho spurt lit the potato market is thought to be only temporary , but it is likely to last for a week or ten days at least The general demand seems to be good all over the country and there are several reasons attributed , one of which is that the low prices ruling for the last month , when old stock was very dull , caused buyers to hold off expecting a further decline ln view of the reports from the shipping districts that holdings ln the country were large . This , of course , depleted stocks among jobbers not only in the big central points , but at outlying jobbing points in New York state and New England . Then , too , tbe exceedingly...
