THE fU JL JL i Jza JilJ , TUC S 0 3ST, ARIZONA Saturday, -Mayl3tli, 1871 EXIT STONEMAN. Upon the star performance in the military farce enacted in Arizona dur ing the engagement of Col. George Stoneman, the curtain has finally dropped, and the scenes passed into history. It was the purpose of those who assigned this star, to have made the play one of utility, and tliey gave him full control over the stock actors and supes. It was designed to par take of a tragedy, but the star has managed to exceed every one's expec rations in tne tragic scenes, and m nearly every instance the wrong men have been slaughtered the audience suffered most severely in this respect and we submit that it has not brought applause either pleasant or profitable to the star in fact it has "busted" the show under his management. The star cannot say that he was not re ceived with kindness, favorable preju dices and decided applause, nor that the auditors failed to closely observe and duly estimate each scene as ...

THE CITISEM TUCSO 1ST 3 ASIZ O IN" .A. Satiix-day, -IMTay 20tli, 1871 Some of the Sonora papers have lashed themselves into a ridiculous rage over a supposed intended raid of fili busters from Arizona. They havo is sued extras on the subject, written up in frantic style. Like all troubles of the imagination, these unreasonably worry the editorial mind of Sonora ; but this may in part bo explained by reference to the fact that said editors are defenders of their fellows who murder innocent American citizens in their own households on our soil. If the editors of ' El Eco' were afforded a few years quiet reflection in some well managed United States peniten tiary, where crime is punished and moral and just dispositions are awak ened and cultivated, they would prob ably discover their criminal folly, and learn to advocate right in preference to wrong, no matter who were affected thereby. In January last, some visionary cor respondent at Ealston put the ground less story afloat that an i...

N3r the' citizen Price per Year, $5; Six Months, 83 TTJ C SOW, AEIZONA Saturday, - May 27t:li. 1871 PUBLIC LAND POLICY. We are in receipt of a late speech by Hon. "W. M. Stewart, of Nevada, in tho U. S. Senate. It briefly reviews tho variud legislation for the disposi tion of the public lands, indicating those laws which had their designed results and those' which were evaded and perverted by land daabrs. The Homestead Act of 1862, he holds to haveinent the expectations of its au thors. The law donating the sixteenth and thirty-sixth section for educational purposes has in the main proved be neficent. All other grants either of swamp or agricultural lands, or by scrip, or warrants to soldiers, have tended more to the concentration of land into the hands of a few men, than to effect their intended, purposes. The railway grants are shown to have been promoters of actual settlement, rather than otherwise a3 too many declare. After a plain reference to all methods used by the government...

THE CITIZEN Jrice per Year, $5; Six Months, $3 TUC S0 3ST, ARIZONA Saturday, - June 3d.. IS 71 ABLE SPEECHES. Those of Hon. R. C. McCormick in Congress on the Indian question and Southern railroad, justly rank as such.. They are published in pamphlet form and distributed throughout the Terri tory. "We shall find room for extracts at an early day. In all the remarks we remember to have read upon the pioneer and correct view of the Indian -Question, none equal these in several particulars. He started out by in effect informing the House of the fact that members usual ly correct in treating all other ques tions, were all wrong on this one ; that the well-informed Delegates who only desired to be heard on Territorial af fairs, and whose rights were to be heard thereon, were crowded down when these subjects came up, and nine tenths of the time allotted to their consideration was consumed by men whose expressed ideas were burlesques on facts and travesties on common sense ; that men had f...

All those who have witnessed or arc cognizant of a mighty people flying to arms on a moment's warning for the preservation of a government that will see its most enterprising citizens crucified in detail by thousands when doing their best to enlarge and prove up the resources of its habitable do main, will approve of the main points made in tho subjoined article from The Now York Tribune. Its application to the "cause of all our woe," from . time immemorial we mean the indit ferenco shown in the disposition of what is styled the Regular Army and its worthless use as a rule for want of the right men in the right plane at the right time will be fully appreciated.
