The season lor sowiag grain soedi is now with us, and perhaps it raay not bs amiss to glance orcr the different yariaties and note some of the moHtral ttable, and the toils host suited to their growth. The variety most commonly kaown and perhaps most largely frown is here called Timothy, in the New Eng land States, Herds' Grass, whieh was its original Bams, and derired from a roan by the name of Herds, who found it growing wild in swamps in Fiseata gua, New Hampshire, more than a cen tury and a half ago. It is usually grown with red clover, but in so doing the clover must itand too long for its benefit, or much of tho intiinsio valne be lost by catting too noon. All kinds of stock like St, and for horses it is claimed to possess a larger per centage of nutritive matter than anyotherkind of agricultural grass. From its native origin Timothy grows best on rich, loamy, moist, bnt not wet soils....
