. I. MINOE, Editor & Proprietor ARIZONA CITY, A. !'.: SAT UK DAY, SEPT. 1 U 1S72. THE APPPvOACHING ELECTION. An election is always an inter esting; event in any country. The one approaching us in November its especially important to the peo ple everywhere. Our citizens have no voice in the election of the President, hut they have a local election of their own, and it be hooves every elector who has a proper care for the welfare of the Territory, to he '-'careful of his ballot." The Delegate to Congress comes first in the order of officers to be elected. There seems to be little or no contest for the place, and as the matter now stands Gov. McCormick will probably walk over the field without opposition. We have heard the name of Judge Hay den mentioned in con nection with that position, but we have no positive information on the subject. Gov. McCormiek has served the people of Arizona in the House at Washington, as well perhaps,as any other gentle man could certainly better than ...

For over eight years Mr. McCormieh has tilled offices of importance and trust, and in all his official acts he has acted in and for the best interests of this Territory. That there should have been some local discontent at some of the things done while he held the Executive power, is not to be denied or wondered at; but we believe his enemies now agree that he was not influenced by any motives other than good ones. And. while, he represented this Territory in Congress, he has always acted for the best interests oi' the whole people. There are perhaps abler men, but we doubt if one can be found who knows t...

CONGRESS. Wu have already indicated our choice for Delegate to Congress. There are many reasons why Gov. McCormick should be returned. It will be remembered thai; the true secret of political supremacy in the Southern States prior to the war, consisted in the good sense or the people in electing their best men to Congress, and keeping thorn there till they grew old and gray in the service. Men are not born legislators they must be educated in the busi ness as well as in any other. No sensible man would employ a blacksmith to build a house, or a carpenter to' make a horse-shoe nail'; and what is true in matters of this kind, is practically true of all Ihe-affairs ofiife. Mr. Lincoln said of the cam paign of sixty-four, that it was not policy to swap horses While cross ing a stream. 1 1 was a...
