Wednesday entered suit in the Civil District Court against Ruffin G. Pleasant for $10, 000 damages, The petition avers that Attorney General Pleasant "in a spirit of revenge for fancied wrongs, animated by malice, and with an evil purpose to injure peti tioner, did, May 24, issue a public statement" which was published in The Times-Picayune and the States, in which he charged that petitioner i was a "reputed dope fiend." After the publication Mr. Ballard addressed a letter to Col. Pleasant asking him to specify which of the! editors of the Item it was who was reputed to be a dope fiend, and the only reply that Col.
