"is "VZSZSt * ^ P«9« 4 SACHSE SENTINEL May 1064 ■— WELCOME To the many new folks in Sachse. We would like to in- troduce ourselves to you, and remind the "old timers" we're still around. Sachse Boosters was incor- porated in 1963. Our main goal is to encourage, promote and support the youth of Sachse. In the past we have sponsored Blue Birds and co-sponsored several Miss Flame Contests. In the past few years due to lack of manpower, we have only registered, organized, bought equipment, uniforms and scheduled the play of Sachse's little league and soft- ball teams. Last year we tried to start a Soccer program, but did not receive enough response; we will try again. We would like to start a basketball program this winter, if participation permits. We have fund raising events: donkey ball games, haunted houses, we operate the conces- sion stand, with the help of the kids' parents, during the ball season. All the money we earn, we either give to the city to be used on the ball fields or...

*••• I SACHSC SENTINEL May 1 064 Seafood Purchasers Should Be Alert Seafood shoppers can make wiser purchases at the market if they are aware of a few basic facts about fishery products. Annette Redddl Hegen, sea- food specialist with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, said April 23-29 was National Consumers Week and an ap- propriate time to learn more about fish products. "The consumer's skill in selecting seafood has much to do with his or her success in preparing the dish," she said. The following tips should help shoppers find good buys at the seafood counter: Whole fish - Scales tightly attached, firm pink flesh, mild and fresh odor, clear bulging eyes, reddish-pink gill area. Fillets or steaks - firm flesh with translucent-like appear- ance, mild and fresh odor, no separation of flesh, no signs of freezer burn or bruising.
