FLOWER DAY ? ;CASTLE\IAINE 'SCHOOLS ASSIST. SUBSTANTIAL SUM RAISED. Tlio effort put forward by the €as tlemaine schools in connection with the Flower Day movement observed thro ughout Hie State yesterday, with the object of augmenting the 'fund estab lished 'by the Education Department in aid of the repatriation of soldiers, was carried out with much enthusiasm, and proved very successful. Each school held a separate function, and the teachers and scholars worked most assiduously in their endeavors to assist this most worthy object. The exam inations were too near for the High ■School to have a large function, hiu. even so, .Flower Day was not neglected, and a buttonhole competition was the means of raising £2/17/. The efforts of the scholars of the South State School were confined to the limits of the school grounds, and by a very suc cessful fair raised £'17.
