THE MELBOURNE EVIDENCE. THE MILDURA. COMMISSION. Some of the evidence taken by the Victorian Royal Commission on Mil dura at Melbourne was as follows:— Mr. Starr,'the engineer, estimates that it will cost £40,000 to put the Mildura pumps and channels in order. The Manager of the Colonial Life Association has offered to reduce the rate of interest on the arreas due by Mildura settlers, to six per cent. Mr. H. B. Luffroan, the Victorian expert on raisins, stated that there was no prospect of an extensive trade tvith muscatel raisins grown in Mil dura.

BENMARK CLAIMS AT YALGOO. :o: The Renmark claims at Yalgoo are being rapidly developed under the management of Captain Anthony. Mr. Jjonald Sinclair, J.P., who returned to Paringa on Monday, after a visit to the Western goldfields, reports that a large amount of work is being done on the property, over £100 per week being spent in wages, and the stone brought to grass continues to maintain its proportion of gold... Another shaft is being put down on the Renmark claim, and one on the Bingham, and a drive will be made right through from one to the other, so the reefs will be fully tested. A new reef on thesa leases, which Mr. Sinclair did not think much on his first visit, has been opened up, and the stone by dollying shewed good gold. A son of Captain Anthony is on his way from England with the very latest metallurgical ap pliances to test all the reefa on the claims, which are expected to average 5 ounces to the ton.
