Wo also painted out tho effect of tho new law relating -to quartz claims— viz., that each claim must nr * bo registered and marked out ablo except by conscnt of a majority of the 'shareholders on the reef and a Justice. Cheek. - The Attorney and Solicitor .General for tho Crowu, and Mr. Aspinull fur tho de fence.' Mr. Martin opened the case in an able speed), and called numerous .witnesses tn prove tho crime tho prisoner wna charged with, viz., shooting at the Duke of Edinburgh with intent to kill him. For the doftmco the counsel called several witneas's to provo in sanity, The caie lasted the whole day. and was ooittioned till tho following d«v.
