'We were enrly in expressing our views on -the absurdity involved in originating the Northern Railway by laying down the line from Newcastle to Maitland, instead of from Morpeth to Single ton;' but since the railway has been acknowledged as tin fait accomf-h1 we have felt U to be our duty to cense complaining of the past, and to urge the desirability of im roving tlie future, by extending the line into the interior.
