OUR RAILWAY. [Newspaper Article] — Northern Times — 6 May 1857
OUR RAILWAY. 'We were enrly in expressing our views on -the absurdity involved in originating the Northern Railway by laying down the line from Newcastle to Maitland, instead of from Morpeth to Single ton;' but since the railway has been acknowledged as tin fait accomf-h1 we have felt U to be our duty to cense complaining of the past, and to urge the desirability of im roving tlie future, by extending the line into the interior. Line. This savours strongly of ministerial influence : the accession of Messrs. Hay and Donaldson ti the Railway ISoard was no doubt hailed by the ' do nothings' as a triumph for the circumlocution interests, but we hold that such appointme...
