Headache, Indigestion, Constipation and Biliousness. -o-- The immense number of orders for Frootoldsa sent by pout direct to the Pro prfetor, is convincing proof that the ublic appreciate their lleudid curing power over the above-natned complaints. LAST SATURDAY'S MATCHES, [Be O 0ooKEx.u . ALHXANDRA V YARCK. The above teams met at Yarek on Satur lay last, and the result was a very friendly and evenly contested strugglo. The ground was in good condition, hbu owilg to Stbo strong growth of grass; many players experienced difficulty in running with the ball. Alexandra were without the services of Nolan, A. MILKING MACHINES IN NEW ZEALAND. A WARNING TO FARMERS. [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra and Yea Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton and Acheron Express — 18 June 1909

MILKINC FMACHINES IN NlEW ZEALAND. A WA, ,NING TO FA?.MF,ERS. The Milking machine has taken a firm hold of the principal dairying districts of New Zealand, and it is interesting to learn that the "Lawrence-Kennedy-Gil lies" is becoming everywhere very popu lar, no less than 150 machines having been booked for delivery during Augu:t and September. Other makes of machi'.es are being largely advertised and pushed, hut level-headed, practical dairymen are not easily gulled or talked into buying maachines that have yet to prove their worth in everyday work on the f::r:n, aid in the hands of unskilled labour. Time alone is the test, and the up-to-date New Zealand dairy farmers prefer, now, that sormebody else should do the experiment ing. In the past, the colony has been the happy hunting ground for milking ma chine inventors, as dairymen know to their sorrow, many herds having been ruined by machines that apparently did good work the first season, but which had disastrous consequences th...

The Hospital Ball. [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra and Yea Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton and Acheron Express — 18 June 1909

The Hospital Ball. Though, perhaps, not such a vast assem. blge as witnessed in previous years, yet the attendance at the annual ball in connection with the Alexandra Cottage Hospital, held on Wednesday of last week, was large, in fact, the hall was not half large enough to .accommodate the many couple in the circular dances.' The sterneor sex predominated, bu all present seemed to have thoroughly en. joyed themselves...The ladies -weresmost pleasant and agreeable and entered into the evening's amusement" with great zest. The music was all thit could be desired, Messrs. F. Boyd (piano) and V. Eades (violin) ac. quitting themselves admirably. The refreshment table was a perfect pic. ture and the good things provided caused the same to fairly groan under the weight. The decorations throughout were not so ex tensive as we have seen inthe shire hall on previous occasions, but what work was done reflected the hiilest credit on those who spent so much time in aiding the object.
