Tbo town of "Pawneo Bock" takes its name from a large sundhtono rock (by lhat Dame) which projects from the hills or uplands that dehne the Arkansas riv or bottom proper. The rock in turn lakes its name irom the Pawnee Indian tribo; whoso favorite hunting grounds used to be in its vicing. The bight ol this rock abovo tho plain below is "75 or 100 feet.
