Procession advertised for lust evening.? Of course, everybody was disappointed.? The weeping of the clouds depressed the Kepublieans generafty, but as there was ao help for it they, managed to take the disappointment as philosophically n3 possi ble, knowing that "behind the cloud is the fan still shilling," and that the "silver lining'' will be visible in it few days. Largest Circulation or any Paper in Western Virginia.-?# Wednesday Morning, JTov. 7,1880. j?-The Election Yesterday.?Klsel wl,erc llie reader will find the result of die election yesterday In the city and county. In accordance with the procla mation of the Mayor, the places where intoxicating drinks are usually dispensed ?, r<- closed up?in front?and the conse quence was that the disorder was only in proportion ti the limited amount'of whis ky imbibed. We heard of no serious dis turbances at the polls; and the day was 83 orderly as could have been expected. The vote is tbe largest one ever polled in the city, and tbe vote for Lincoln was nil his most sanguine friends expected. The Douglas and Brerkinridgc men contested tor the mastery, very warmly, though it is ipparent that all over the county the Douglas tnen flew the truck and voted for Breckinridge, hence the comparatively lirge vote of the latter.
