At a recent meeting of ' German wo men held at Gothail was urged that the first of Gorman Courts .should set the example of simplicity and good taste in female fashion. uuUw (Soirntg ScpuMtaw SAVANNAH, MISSOURI. CURRENT TOPICS. Giiboud's remains wore relumed in the Catholic cemetery at Montreal n the 16th. The removal of the colli n from the vault in the Protestant ceme tery, and its transfer., and burial were quietly performed, under the pro tection of a large force of police, forty of whom were armed with breech-loading rifles. Six regiments of volunteers, fully armed, were stationed in the immediate vicinity. The collin was placed in a bed of hardened cement previously prepared for it, and this was covered to a considerable depth with li quid cement, intermixed with scraps of iron and tin. There was a very large crowd gathered in the vicinity to wit ness the novel proceedings, but with the exception of some jeering remarks there was no attempt at disturbance. Utlmr County ilcpubtican MISSOURI. SAVANNAH, CUTtRENT TOPICS. Vice-President Henry Wilson died :it the Capitol at Washington, at half-past 7 o'clock on the morning of the 22d. Mr. Wilson was prostrated by an apoplectic attack, while in a bar ber's chair, on the 12th, but had so far recovered on the day of his death as to be able to sit up and walk about the room. I'p to nearly the very moment he expired he was in a cheerful condi tion, and felt sanguine of being .soon en tirely restored to health. A post-mortem examination showed that apoplexy was the cause of his death. Henry Wilson was born at Farmington, New Hamp shire. February 1G, and was, there fore, at the time of his death, more than sixty-three years old. The announce ment of his death was received with universal expressions of sorrow through out the country. The funeral service-; of the late Vice President Wilson took place in the Sen ate Chamber of the Capitol on the 2(5th. The chamber was heavily draped in mourning. The ...
