Astnalhlmg Feats of Memory. The Nature prints the letter of a car respondent who was struck with some remarkable exhidbition ot memory that he found in the hotels of this country. In some of them, he says. many hun hundreds of persons dine simultaneous ly in the same room. Before entering, the guests leave their hats with a serv ant standing at the entrance for the purpose of receiving them. The servant does not check the hats or arrange them in any particular order, and yet he promptly handsench to the owner as he returns from the dining-room. The most remarkable cae noticed by the writer was at the Fifth Avenue Hotel, in New York. There the attendant, he writes, sometimes has as many as five hundred hats in his charge at one time. Most of them belong to persons whom he has never before seen. The owners go in and out in crowds. But, without a moment's hesitation, the servant re turns each one his own hat. lie ex plains his ability to do this by saying that he forms a mental picture...
