The elocution class of the Convent of the Holy Name of Mary gave its first recital on Sunday. October 5th, at the residence of Mrs. J. Morrison. 207 Delaronde street. The class is under the direction of Miss Mamie Haggerty, a former pupil of the Convent and a graduate of the New Orleans College of Oratory. The class will give a recital every month to which the parents and friends of the pupils will be invited. The program presented last Sunday was very entertaining and the pupils acquitted themselves in a very credit able manner. Miss Mamie Morrison, acting as mis tress of ceremonies, spoke a few words of greeting in a very pleasing manner and announced, the different numbers of the program. The opening chorus.
