If the negro officials of the wrecked Savings Bank of the True Reformers have been guilty of a groa? violation of the law, which may even subject some of them to a charge of felony. According to facts recently brought out. they received deposits even after they knew the Institution was insolv? ente, or, rather, after they had been notified as to the shaky condition of the bsnk. A statute covering crimes of this eort makes the offense embezzlement ?and provides Imprisonment either in the Jail or penitentiary, according to the discretion of the Jury.
