VFW, DAV, and Jamboree Committee ha e joined together in a coopera- tive effort spon^ring 4th of July activities in Smithville. ' Hoping to arrange a real old-fashioned hometown celebration, the four groups have pooled their resources, and will split any profits or any costs. Starting at 4 p.m. Satur- day. July 3, the celebration will lead off with a parade. Many of the floats entered in the Jamboree parade will mjike another appearance, but the parade committee is making a concerted effort to get a number of individual entries as well. Bill Davison, one of the planners of the weekend, said, "I would really like to see it happen that there wouldn't be any spectators—everybody would be in the parade.'' Smith SMITHYILLE — A home and home four game series of All Star contests has been scheduled for June 30 and July 2 between Smithville and Bastrop Girls Softball Leagues. The June 30 contests will be held at Smithville's Dennis Walker Field, with the first game, pitting the PeeWee All Stars of both leagues, starting at 6:30 p.m. The Majqrs All Star contest will follow at approxi- mately 8:00 p.m. July 2 will find the All Stars competing at the new Lions Glib Little League Field in Bastrop.
