A newspaper I picked up lately tells the story of a very competent und suc- cessful woman electrician. She under- stands every detail of electric lighting even to making much of the apparatus. She can figure on the co.st of a contract for electrical lighting or for plumbing and gas fitting to any extent. She is also an expert draftsman in the me- chanical line. A LONG LOST MINE. Prayers Said for a Spaniard After Two Centuries "In living for nearly a year in New Mexico I heard many legends of the bidden mines and lost treasure cities of tat antique region" said a tourUt who recently return-id from a long so- journ in the far southwest. 1 'But the event that gave the most vivid touch of reali'y to these storie- was my meet- ing with Fadre Fouchard the prieet of a northern New Mexico parish. We were fellow passengers traveling in the caboose of freight train between Glorieta and Las Vegas one night. The padre sat down beside me offered me a cigar and af er a little prelimi- nary conversation told me that he had been spending several days past in tbi neighborhood of the old Pecos ruin the deserted walled city of the ancient Pecos nation on an unusual and inter- esting errand. Becent Inventions. A bandy pan for use in washing dishes has two separate compartment and movable trays to hold the soap and aish-cloths. Cigar-hold?rs are being made with an outlet pipe in the side and two automatic valves by means 01 wmen smoke rings can be blown through the side tube.
