PAGE 3 ELGIN — To Shakes Ceare discretion may ave been the betterpart of valor, but to the Elgin Wildcats it was just a way to win a game. Leading 19-13 with less than a minute to play in Friday's non-district clash with Manor, Elgin took an intentional safety rather than risk a blocked punt. It was a move which worked,but barely. After running back Cliff Perry took the snap and ran back into his own end- zone for the safety, the Wildcats free-kicked the ball to Manor. The Mus- tangs responded with an effective two - minute drills, completing several short sideline passes be- fore time ran out at the Wildcat 23. The win ended two streaks.
