Girl Scouts cookie sale under way Dixie Dickson This has been quite a week at the Sachse Senior Center. I nursed my wounds for 2 1/2 days and decided this wasn't getting anything done, and beside the people covering for me, had their own work to do. Monday afternoon I felt sorry for the Reverse Mortgage sales representative and decided I had better get down here so he would have someone to talk to, and it turned out that there were 15 people who wanted to hear his presentation. That was very nice. Tuesday 1 attended the Chamber of Commerce luncheon (in a wheel- chair) and started my genealogy class in the afternoon. I was expecting six to 10 ladies at this class and it turned out to be 22 people of both sexes! There is a lot of interest in geneal- ogy and we are just getting started. There were not as many at the second class as the first class, but I take it they a...

After all, Uncle Sam can't force Americans off their land merely for prolil and increased lax revenue, right? Not exactly. Lasl summer, the U.S. Supreme Court decided a case, Kelo v. There were three main reasons for the high bills. Primarily responsible for the higher bills was the increased cost of natural gas, which is used to generate electricity. Much like gasoline did, natural gas prices sky- rocketed immediately after hurricane Katrina, and then rose even higher after hurri- cane Rita. Natural gas, which was selling for about $6 per mmbtu in the fall of 2004, steadily rose throughout the first eight months of 2005 to approximately $8.50 per mmbtu. After Katrina hit, natural gas prices shot up to $11 per mmbtu and by the end of December, gas prices were over $15 per mmbtu. Last year gas rose over 250%! Also contributing to the higher bill...
