LAW OF MARRIAGE iir SCOTLAJÍD. -Mr Baron Martin, at the Carlisle Assizes, stated that a very great change had now been made in the law of Scotch marriage, and that in future a marriage could not be performed there unless the parties had resided in Scot land for fourteen days previous to the marriage. It was desirable that tins should be made fully known, because young women might go to Scotland and get married, and afterwards find themselves in a state of concubinage. THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE.-The great disinfecting experiment made in the town of Leinster by the Patent Solid Sewage Manure Company, by which the corrupt is cleansed and dross becomes gold, demands the serious con sideration of all enterprising and public cpirited individuals, and of every civic sommunity. I _ _ FRANCE. j The ümperor Napoleon arrived at Bordeaux ou the evening of the 301b.. On the 30th, MY de Brunow had an inter view with the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, and presented a note, which is believed to refer to . thc affairs of Naples. The French Government fins received a «Ji patea from the Governor of Senegal, dated 13th August, which says that the most perfect tran quillity prevailed on the river, and recom mended shippers to send a sufficient supply of merchandise for the wants of the natives. The average price of corn for all France for the month ending September 15th was 30f. 38c, being a diminution of 2f. 35c. per hectolitre as compared with the month pre ceding.
