FOOTBALL Waranga N E. League Seymour Defeat Alexandra in Final [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton, Taggerty and Acheron Express — 1 September 1950

W aranga ,N E. League SeymourIDefeat Alexandra in Final The weather was fine and the oval at Euroa was in perfect condition for the big game. McNair sent Alexandra forward at the bounce, and their first score came when Lyn Stillman hand-balled to Hall for a point. Seymour answered when Cotter kicked over his shoulder for a single, and Sullivan followed with another. Both sides were fumb ling and miskicking badly. Smith was shining in the ruck for Seymour and McNair for Alexandra. The back lines of both sides were working hard turn ing back attacks, with Jacko Still man and Vic Hewitt for Alexandra and Beck and Wallis for Seymour working like trojans. The bounce of the ball was going against Alexandra, which was making their job harder. Morris was playing well on the wing, and fought his way through packs fre I quently to send Alex. forward, but I Beck and Company were too strong. At the other end Robinson and Par. ker were marking well and keeping Seymour out. Most of the quarter ha...

In England [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton, Taggerty and Acheron Express — 1 September 1950

In Engltaud We present further extracts from letters received from` Miss Rose Col lis, who is school teaching In England.. They are: 24/6/50.-Have just received let ter containing snaps -one of the first football match of the season, in the park-which I am going to show the children to let them see what sort of -"bungalows" we live" in. Its really indecent to live in a one-storeyed house dwelling over here-rather bo hemian. Anyone who can save a re turn fare to England can live and travel over here-not in luxury, I'll admit, but you won't be flat broke either. Met one girl who has just spent fourteen days in Ireland for £12. She hitch-hiked-a popular pas time here-and stayed at youth hos tels (about 1/6 per night, and pro vide your own food). You may be interested to know that boot repair ' ers here wear white coats, like chem ists, etc. Tell Bill Gould that also gentlemen going to work usually wear bowlers, carry a cane, and wear pig skin gloves.
