In railway freights they have paid a con siderable sum. There is an un limitable supply of stone in this •quarry, and the deeper the sink ing the better the stone is. The proprietors also do a large trade in supplying stone for monumen tal, the stone being admirably suited for this class of work. A lot of stone is also supplied to ■shire councils for various works. Last year 50,000 pitchers was supplied to the Colac council for ■drain works in Colac and Cressy, and they have more orders now ■on hand for a further supply. Messrs Dare Bros, have also the contract for supplying all the stone for the new town hall build ing at Geelong, for which large ■quanti...

The Pioneer. CRESSY, WEDNESDAY, OCT. 13. [Newspaper Article] — Cressy and Lismore Pioneer and Western Plains Representative — 13 October 1915

CRESS'S. WEDNESDAY. OCT. 13. The publication of the pamphlet on the Referenda propoaalB pats the finishing touch to Labor's farcical treatment of important issues. The booklet of 36 pages is to be posted to millions of men and women bo absorbed by their own sorrows, their own anxie ties, that they are not likely to turn their eyes from the Darda nelles to scan the sophistries of Mr Hughes, spread over thirty of the pages, or even to glance at Mr Cook's brief but indignant protest against mere word spin ning whilst the Empire fights for itn very life. And in the curious pamphlet we have the unaccus tomed spectacle of the Attorney General, "the brain of the Labor party," a man of undoubted ability and considerable culture, donning the cap and bellB, and juggling with the plain meaning of everyday words for the behoof of a crowd he must credit with a quite extraordinary brainlessness. It would be childish to pretend, that there is no case for the pro posals, five million sane people ar...
