Bowman, tho labour candidate tor the forthcoming election, addressed a crowded meeting in the Uuion Hall, | Charleville, on Thursday evening last I Mr. Bowman spoke for nearly two hours. Mr- Eapio occupied the chair and there were also on the platform Messrs. Brennon, M'Naomra, and Balfonr. The Chairman said that in the absence of the Mayor (Mr. J. Armstrong) ho had beeii atlced to take the chair. Ho was pleased to do ao and asked tho audience to give Mr. Bowman a fair hearing. Mr- Bowman said he regretted the in cident that had caused the bye-elcction, namely the death of Mr. Crombie. He also regretted the death of the Premier, which ho stated was a national loss. Latest Telegrams. i? *n» i ? QUEENSLAND. BRIBBAJTB, TIIUHHDAY. Scene in the House. MEMBER'S SUSPENDED. A lively scene occurred in the Assembly yesterday. The Opposition commenced obstruction tactics and nets frequently called to order by the Speaker. Mr. McDonald- said that the Speaker was favouring the Government, and when requested to withdraw the words he re fused and was then suspended for a wee'-c. He refused to leave the House and when the Sergeant-afc-Arms and the Clerk attempted to remove him, Hoolan helped McDonald to resist, calling the Speaker a " nigger-driver," for which he was also suspended for a week. Both left the House of their own accord After tea, Messrs. Tnrley, Dawson, Dunsford, McDonald and King were also suspended for imputing unfairness and partiality to the Speaker. Business then proceeded quietly.
