From the Colonial Papers. VAN DIEMEN'S LAND AND NEW SOUTH WALES JUSTICE. In the SYDNEY GAZETTE of the 31st ult., in the reports of the proceedings of the Supreme Court, " Onions v. Gore— Mr. Foster moved, that the plaintiff should not be entitled to costs, as the ver- dict had been returned for only £2 15s., and, con- sequently, against the statute. Mr. Stephen op- posed the motion. The Court granted the applica- tion, as the plaintiff might have sought his remedy in another Court."   It is not long since a jury returned a verdict in our Supreme Court, for some nine pounds odd shil- lings, expressly for the purpose of bringing the amount to a sum, which the Jury thought ought to have been recovered in the inferior Court — the Court of Requests. One or two motions were made respecting the costs; but our Judges decided exactly the reverse to what the Sydney Judges did in the case of Onions v. Gore.
