MANSFIELD DEBATING SOCIETY. The first debating of'this society washeld at the Shire Hall, Mansfield, on Tuesday evening last. The subject for discussion chosen was whether Queen Elizabeth was entitled to the ap pellation of "Good Queen Bess." A charge of is was made for admittance the money collected being for the purpose of increasing the funds of the Mansfield Common School. The attendance was good, the chair being occupied by Dr Rowe who, privious to the discussion made some prefa tory remarkes upon the benifits to be derived from meetings of this kind. The question chosen for debate was briefly   opened by Mr O'Leary in the affimative who contended that under Queen Elizabeth, England attained a high and influential position among the kingdoms of Europe, that despite all that had been said against that, queen she was beloved by her people, which was the best test as to whether she is entitled to the appellation of "Good Queen Bess."
