The Real Thing. CHLORIDES VERSUS SIX-ANDEIGHTPENCE. [Newspaper Article] — Barrier Miner — 27 March 1889

The Real Thing. CHLORIDES VERSUS SIX-ÀND EIGHTPENCE. THS glories of the ring are not departed from Broken HUI. The polioe have, righteously enough, placed an embargo upon fights to a finish on a stage ; but there is nothing to prevent, it «eems, one individual walking up to another in the saloon of a principal hotel and, while in a suspicuously excited state, committed an unprovoked assault, lead- ing to a bout of fisticuffs. If town talk be true, an affair of this kind oc- curred in Broken Hill on the night before last, causing the facial disfigurement of the alleged agreasor, the delight of the onlookers, and the consternation of tbe landlord, anxious about his furniture. Such .little, incidents, presumably, pleasantly .break - the monotony of what passes for upper circle life in this community. The story, told on good: authority, runs that on Monday night an individual who once held a prominent position in the town, and has a fancy Btill for keeping himself very much in evidence,...
