Local'& General News. The time for the annual municipal elections is drawing nigh, but up to the present there appears to be very little stir in connection with the matter. The retiring councillors are Messrs.. C. Walker, T. Barton, and J. M'Gretton; and nominations to fill the vacances caused thereby must be in the hands of the returning officer or his deputy by 4o'clock p.m. on the 8th. inst. Mr. Thos. Barton, one of the retiring coun cillors, is the only gentleman who.se candidature is publicly announced. We learn that a requisition is in course of signature to induce Mr. S. fenlesvllle. ,A.pretty minicipal township, with post and telegraph and money-order office, and savings bank, situated at the junction of the Graceborn and Maroondah rivers, 39 miles east of Melbourne. Rail direct with Melbourne, Healeaville being the terminus. It has three large first-class hotels and a large temperance hotel ; Gracedale House, a handsome summer resort, is situated near he foot of Mount Juliet, about three miles from the railway station. There are a fine state school, four churches, branch of the Colonial Bank,-court house, police station,. mechanics' institute and free library,, a newspaper (THs HEALEBVILLE GUABDIAN), a number of stores and other places of business.
