GIPPSLAND PROVINCE ELECTION. The election of a candidate fora seat in the Legislative Council to rnp resent the Gippsland P'o-ince, took place yesterday. At Trar:lgon there was: only a fair amount of interest shown, but probably many more votes would have been recorded if the poll ing booth had been in the Shlirehall instead of the State school. 'any persons objected to go so far, and many of those who did go grumbled at the booth being so far out of the centre of the town. This, howseve, was not the wish of the local deputy returning oflicer. I. was fixed by Mr Little, tthe returning ofllieo, and he probablly did not know how far the school is frnm the centre of population. Duringt the afternoon a vehicle was driven to and fro, conveying \'otors to the booth to vote for "Peauson," judging by the platau'ds attached to the vehicle.
