WAR- NEWS, THE SIEGE OF STRASBOURG. The bombardment of Strasbourg has done great damage to the city, and it is believed that it will be. impossible for the garrison to hold out much longer, unless relieved. The principal street is in ruins. One of the shells lately fell on the roof of the Catholic girls' school, and seven, persons were killed and four injured. The people desiring to, sureo render, the.bishop. of the city made an. at tempt at mediation, Hie came from Stras bourg to. Schiltigheim, where the Baden Staff Commander,. Lieutenant Colonel. Leszinsky, conferred with him. The bishop proposed an armistice, of twenty-four- hours, which was agreed to on condition that after the lapse of an hour the GOovernor of Stras' bourg should annouune a desire to. negotiate. KILMORE BOROUGH COUNCIL, Monday, October 24, 1870. Present :-His Worship the Mayor and Councillors Hickey, Dowling, Lyster, Ma- loney, Sugden, Reilly, and O'Connor. The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and confirmed. The correspondence was then read and dealt with as follows: 1-From M. Fitzpatrick, Common Toll .Manager, asking payment of the proportion of his salary due by the Council. Councillor Sugdeu moved that the letter be received, and that the amount, £3 Os 5d, be passed for payment, but the cheque to be retained until alter the 31st of October, on which date his term of oflice would ex i pire. IRELAND. It is stated in Dublin that the Draft Charter of Incorpo:ation of the Representa tive Body of the Irish Episcopal Church has been returned to that body, with the amendments proposed by the law officers of the Crown, v;hich, do not affect its princi ple. On August 22, a party of. it is supposed, aboat 11 or 15 men, proceeded to the house of Captain Houston. who resides near West, port, in that county.. They made a search for arms, but found only a gun, which was taken away. Threats of a violent character were used. Mr Henry Sargent, secretary to the City of Waterford Grand Jury, made a desperate attempt to commit suicide on August 11, at his residence.
