GREEN'S PLAINS. November 28, 1888. [Newspaper Article] — The Kadina and Wallaroo Times — 1 December 1888

GREEN'S PL&JNS. November 28. 1888. Reaping is now in lull awing, bat it is too Boon to say what the yield will be as very little wheat has been cleaned, and the farmers if asked about the crops merely shake their heads and look mysterious, wbieh although it may mean a great deal does not give very reliable information. However, the yield will not be great, nor the sample above first class/' yet many of the crops look equal to two bags to the acre and the remainder a good deal less. In addition to this most of the farmers have been able to cut hay enough for their own use, and some have decent stacks for sale. The farmers of; this district have, therefore great cause ' for thankfulness rather thau complaint, when they compare their own case with that of their less fortunate though equally deserving brethren in many other parts of the colony. Last week we had a small taste of summer ; tor two or three days the beat was excessive and must have been very trying to both extreme t...

THE RECENT CONCERT AT PORT BROUGHTON. TO THE EDITOR. [Newspaper Article] — The Kadina and Wallaroo Times — 1 December 1888

THE RECENT CONCERT AT PORT BROTTGHTON. TO THE EDITOR. SIB,-Will you kindly do the public of Port BroQghtoo a favour by calling atten tion to the annoyance we some times have to put up with by people stamping their feet while people are singing, pre sumably thinking tfaey are beating time; and to the impudence of a middle aged person sittiog in the middle of the hall, who annoyed the public by joining with a voice very flat and unmusical in the glees ; and making ignorant remarks respecting the performers and tbeir efforts to entertain the public. Sometime ago the same lady (?) not being interested in a lecture, told tbe lecturer to stop, that they had bad enough. Of course she imagined that we were all as empty headed as herself, and could not appreciate anything bat nonsense. -I am, &c., ORDEB. Pt. Broogbton, Nor 25,1838.

HOW LONG DOES A DEEAM .LAST? i ms sunject nas Deen discussed recently In Germany, and a doctor there gives bis experience as follows:-" After excessive bodily fatigue, and a day of mental strain, of a nut disagreeable kind, I betook my self to bed after 1 bad woand up my watch and placed it on the nigbt-table. Soon I found myself on the high sea on boatd a well-known ship. I was again young, and stood on the look-oat. i beard the roar of the water, and golden clouds floated round me. How long I so stood I did not know, bnt it seemed a very long time. Then the scene changed. I was in the country, and my long-dead parents came to greet me; they took me to charch, where the load organ sounded.
