TROUBLE OVER MONEY AT GREESON IN TAMPA Acts Walked Out When Assurance That Salaries Were Not Forthcoming Was Not at Hand . TAMPA , Fla ., Dec . 25 . —After the vaudeville performers on the bill at the Greeson theater had convinced themselves that their labors were likely to be in vain and that no salaries would be forthcoming on Saturday night , Dec . 23 , when their week was up , they declined to continue in their duties after Wednesday evening , Dec . 20 . A . Miller , of the Three Musical Millers , precipitated the trouble when on Wednesday he asked for a portion of the money due his act for services rendered . He said that he had been informed that the management of the theater was not considered reliable , and wanted to assure himself that the act with which he was connected would be paid . The other performers on the bill joined in the demand for assurance as to their salaries , and when they could get no satisfaction , according to their stories , refused to give a performanc...

Oct . 17 , 1911 . ) Vardon , Perry and Wilber , three musicians and singers , had a unique experience last evening . In travelling from Birmingham the trio had the misfortune to lose the whole of their baggage with the exception of their musical Instruments , and as a result of this they went through the daring experiment of appearing on the stage in ordinary street attire ,- and without accompaniment , the management appealing for the Indulgence of the audience during their performance . They were an immense success , and were repeatedly recsiled , the audience , if anything , being over indulgent , and quite half a dozen songs were given by Those 3 Boys and well given , too . NOTES OF THE STAGE [Newspaper Article] — Player — 29 December 1911
NOTES OF THE STAGE At our Charity Ball , held last week , an innovation was sprung on the bluebloods . Two Russian dancers showed their skill on the floor before the regular dancers started in . It was a huge success and paid performers will hereafter be features at many of the social events . Last week a number of theatrical people of this city went to Atlantic City , N . J ., to attend the opening of Billy Goldenberg s new cafe . They had one gorgeous time , and came home with glowing accounts of the beauties of the new place . Mr . Goldenberg was formerly manager of the Palace theater , Reading , Pa . One of our vaudeville theaters in this city plays a split week with Baltimore , Md ., and another sends its performers to Reading , Pa ., when the mid-week arrives . Complaints having been made that the moving picture theaters were being overcrowded , the authorities have ordered that no standees shall be allowed in the future . Tom Hargreaves , of Chester , Pa ., will send the Harg...

IN LONDON TOWN [Newspaper Article] — Player — 29 December 1911
IN LONDON TOWN By O . H . KURTZ , SO Walcot Square , London , S . E . Now comes the generous Christmas season of burning yule log and fireside cheer , of mistletoe and many berried holly . As the threatened holiday postal strike is off , your fat special number , got out for the sleigh of Santa Claus , should get around London on time . Now doll matinees and theatrical feasting schemes are being boomed for the poor , and even Thamesside embankment sleepers will get the wrinkles taken out of their stomachs . English carol singers have already been in this square . Practically all the West End shops will close midday the Saturday preceding Christmas , and not open till Wednesday morning . In England Christmas maintains its churchly traditions ; the holiday has its original meaning— holy day . No shows are given , and artists lose the day s salary except by grace of the management . Festivities rise to high tide the day after Christmas , Boxing Day , which is not as it sounds a day sac...
