Anthony had been the secret, as well as the avowed enemy, of the State Horticultural Society since 18C9 to the present time, frequent going out of hi way to bring hi hostility to Lear against it. In confirmation of the above statement I give among many otherf, the foliowinj facts: The fourth annual meeting of the State Society was held at Manhattan, Kiley county. At this meeting Capt. Anthony did not make hii appearance until the sec ond day, arriving at Manhattan on the previous night train.
