Planting Corn In Panama. “Anyoue who is willing to work can get rich In the Republic of Panama,” said Dlliwynn M. Hazlott to a Kansas City Journal writer. “It costs 10 cents a bunch to raise bananas and there is always sale for them at* 30 cents a bunch. Three crops of corn can be raised a year and no cultivation is required. A man walks along and drops the corn in the footprints he makes and a native follows and covers the corn with his big toe. That is all there is to do until it Is time to gather It” A Chicago cereal food company recently ordered fifty tons of ink for use in printing their packages.

NEW YORK VALLEY. The B. A. club met last Friday evening at the home of Leonard Morey, Gll2 Aidama street. Two new members were added, and only one absent, the leader, Mrs. Stlckney. After the business meeting the rest of the evening was spent sociably, and all departed at a late hour, all agreeing to meet the following Friday evening at the hpme of the Lafferty sisters, 5815 Benner street. Mrs. W. B. Keese left Wednesday for an extended trip through the East. She will visit her sister in Dallas, Tex., and from there she will visit in and around Chicago. The cousins of Chas. Cochran from Sail Fernando were visiting with him this week. The Grace chapel, on New York street; Which has been completed and opened its doors for the first time Sunday afternoon, had a large attendance. It has been furnished with forty or fifty chairs, but that proved' to be not enough and some had to stand.
