- — Occasions Thursday, January 12, 2(X)6 - THE SACHSE NEWS - Section A - Page 5 ver Scene by Dixie Dickson, Senior Center Coordinator New Arrivals Dixie Dickson How many of you knew there were Angels in the Sachse area? On Thursday morning, Jan. 5, I was involved in an auto acci- dent. It wasn't crit- ical. but it was as bad as I ever want it to be. We picked a house in Woodbridge, so I wouldn't have to drive on Hwy. 78 to get to work, from Woodbridge I could come down Sachse Road, two miles and I am there. God does work in mysterious way, because he let me know, Sachse Road could be just as dangerous as the four-lane highway. You do strange things when acci- dents happen. I automatically unhooked my seat belt, reached for my phone and called my husband land then 911. All the time I was doing this glass was popping every- where. My car was just like a pop- corn popper. I kept getting glass in my mouth while I was talking on the phone. While I was on the phone a man's head appeared ...

Engbrock Managing Editor Donnita Nesbit Fisher HI When a pet is more than a pet Is it working yet? Don Hallum Not quite, that is the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (MPDP) is not fully imple- mented. On Jan. 3 pharmacists in Wylie, sur- rounding area, and across the nation faced seniors at the counter waiting to have their prescriptions filled through their new MPDP. Pharmacists report that some cus- tomers came in without I.D. cards or letters showing their eligibility and others were surprised thai they had to pay full cost until meeting a $250 k deductible. Many seniors acted early and signed up in November and early December. Needless to say those who subscribed after Dec. 15, 2005 may still be waiting for their I.D. cards to arrive. He just want- ed to learn how to play, something he didn't feel comfortable doing until he was 10. "I wasn't very good at all," he said of the first few years. "I think practice (helped). "I'm hoping MLS, so I can stay close to my family." That may happen soon enough, but for the coming months, and possibly years, Nelson will be spending his time practicing and playing on fields throughout the nation and the world. Hi?: ■■m Page 4 - Section B - THE SACHSE NEWS - Thursday, January 12,2006 Wylie Boys Basketball Pirates host Terrell in district opener By Greg Ford The basketball season is nearly two months old, and the problem that beset Wylie at its beginning is still bedeviling the Pirates and their coach. "I'm still a little discouraged by the inconsistency," head coach David Black said. "We haven't put four quarters together." The Pirates will need to do that quickly, as they begin the quest for the postseason Friday, hosting Terrell in the District 11-4A opener for both teams. Wylie's district season continues Tuesday at home versus West Mesquite. Wylie (10-7) faces off against Terrell, one of the more talented teams in the district, a week removed from a 52-39 loss Saturday at Paris in the non-district finale. Four days earlier, Jan. 3, the Pirates returned from Athens with a 66-62 victory. "1 still think the chances are pret- ty good of us getting into the play- offs," Black said. "I'm not...
