Wuen ilr. Jliiin revealed to a symjia thetio House tlie fanfc that he hud an overdraft at th.i Bank when he formed a Ministry over five years ago, and that that overdraft, gradually increased every year of his Premiership, he no doubl^surprised the country, even li U« did not startle those who move 1 m the inner politica.1 circle. The people have short memories. They forgot Sir John RouEKysoh -partially retired from politics with a Parlia mentary grant of £10,000 to ward off the wolf from the door, and that in the end Sir Jons scarcely left a shi'l ling — not to jingle on histombsione — for bis grave remained unmarked for mauy years. The Farran Dale Ball [Newspaper Article] — Narromine News and Trangie Advocate — 4 August 1899

rThe Farran Dale Ball Increasing years arid, alas ! a too rapid lading of that manly beauty which was once the cynosure of all female eyes, has caused the Vagrant to escnew all indulgence ui tne iigut fantastic toe, but special occasions demand special treatment, so after kneading all the necessai-y joints, long grown stiff from disuse, with a liberal application of Row's' Embrocation, your humble servant decided to ac cept an invitation to the Bachelor's Ball at Farran Dale. Behold us, then, at three o'clock on the after noon of that most auspicious Thurs day en route for our 22'T3iles drive. Gar party consisted of two ladies, one driven by a member of the fourth estate, and the other knight of the ribbons was the sole representative present of our ~ Municipal Council. All went as nietrily as an original joke, our high spirits aud delightful anticipations enabling us to triumph literally studded as they were with gilgies —though that was not the name the alderman gave them. Just at...

At tlio conclusion of the \isnal monthly meeting of tbe Hulf-Holiday Association on Tuesday night; a very pleasing event took place, being the. presentation to Mr. W. Mr. Reid & Mr. Barton ? : ? ♦ ? Nobody must be surprised that Mr. Reid and Mr. Barton have lost the confidence of a big section of the pre sent Assembly.
