ger fev ani rig mi tul we an wl Waranga N.E. League ed ALEXANDRA v. EUROA. he be The ground was in a very bad state le, after the morning's heavy rain. It was greasy, and mud extended from the centre right to the goal mouth at the gate end. AskeW f marked and sent them into attack again, but Parker, marking safely right in front, saved. A free to Reid E on Euroa's half-forward line shot the ball across to Cook, who led out well iT to mark and score their third major. b Alexandra hadn't passed the centre t, yet, and were taking time to settle down. It was quite evident from this a stage that Euroa's tactics were go- o ing to be to hit hard and often, and bump Alexandra off their game. A a free to HI-all in the centre sent Alex. a forward for the first time, but Euroa C cleared to the wing, where Butler i went high up over Walters to mark beautifully. D...

MIAROONDAII HItGHWAY ASSO CIATION. Last Saturday Alexandra Seconds travelled to Mansfield'to:play Bonnie 'Doon ill the final of the Maroonda~l Eighway Association. The first quarter 'saw Bonnie Doon score first, with a major. Alex andra were slow in attacking, but after a few hurried shots at goal only two points and one major resulted. The ball was very heavy and slippery, and both teams were finding difficul ty, in handling it. Alexandra were getting great drive from Cookson and Bonsema in the centre, while Briscoe and Friday were battling hard for Bonnie Doon.' The scores at the end of the first quarter were: Alexandra, 2.6._ Bonpie Doon, 1.6. The second term saw very little "change in the crowded game.. Play was see-sawing from one end of the ground to the other. Both back lines were doing better than the forwards. At the end of the first half Alexan dra's leeway had been reduced to three points, the scores being Alexandra, 3.6. Bonnie Doon, 3.3. In the third term Bonnie Doon we...

1939-45 War Memorial [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton, Taggerty and Acheron Express — 25 August 1950

1939-45 War Memorial A decision has been made at a public meeting that a war'me morial be erected at Alexandra, at a cost of £1,000. The situation for such is at the Park at the end of the children's playground. The memorial would take the form of a very plain and simple structure embellished with a large bronze panel in low relief and with lettering and bronze y name plates. The bronze panel will be like those on the base of the Monument in Grant St, but larger and in bolder relief. In all the drawings of plans the shape of the site is defined by concrete paving, and a low hedge is shown as a background. In a, report from the architects it is stated that the two Memorials could be coupled together in various ways to create a harmonious unit, but it is essential that the new Mem orial should be entirely different from the old in shape and size and character. The two Mem orials (one in Grant Street, 1914 18 war), and the new Memorial will be placed side by side in the Park so as to a...
